Nurturing Beauty: 3 DIY Recipes Using Young Living Rose Ointment
Have you jumped on the Castor Oil train? Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid. These types of fats can be used to moisturize the skin. They act as occlusive moisturizers, which prevent or reduce water loss through the outer layer of the skin. GUESS WHAT?! Rose ointment contains castor oil, so I have been testing it out on the driest parts of my face and under my eyes as an eye cream to see the results. I have previously used just castor oil under my eyes and I can report that I prefer using Rose Ointment as it helps the other ingredients get absorbed better. Rose Ointment…

Average persons guide to setup a business in a day…
You’ve had this idea for super long and just don’t know where to start to get your business launched? KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) – Repeat it louder for the ones in the back!! Here are some basic tools and steps I suggest from my personal experience in starting any small business in South Africa.Firstly starting with an idea and maybe a business plan (this can change along the way) but start with something that you can work from and build a foundation on. Put it on paper and get into action. Choose a name for your business. Something original, catchy and don’t over complicate it. Create a logo design…

100+ uses for your 10 bundle oils
The 10 bundle oils is the easy button for the beginner and the most cost effective way to get all the basic oils in your home. It includes, in my opinion two of the bougiest oils (aka Valor and Frankincense) in the bundle that makes it even more worth it. Here are some of the ways too use each oil in the bundle: PEPPERMINT 1. Add several drops of Peppermint Vitality to your favorite brownie mix.2. Add several drops of Peppermint Vitality to some chocolate and coconut oil to make peppermint bark.3. Add 1 drop of Peppermint Vitality to water to keep you feeling full.4. Add a couple drops to…

Interior Design & Aromatherapy
So not only do we all love to have a gorgeous interior, but also a home that smells amazing! I was wondering how to achieve it without allowing harmful chemicals from candles in your home, and also realistically you can’t have candles burning 24/7 throughout your whole home. See why we need to relook at burning candles here. Like colour, scents and smells can trigger emotions in us. So how can we incorporate scents in our home to create the desired emotions we would like home to associate with? Setting the mood WITHOUT candles
Nothing sets the mood like a candle, right?! I won’t lie and say this was an easy swop, I LOVED candles and especially when we had a dinner party, friends over for a visit or even to burn next to my bath after a long day. There is just that vibe a burning candle provides. These days, I can’t light a candle without wondering what I am breathing in, because the candle company might not be telling you. So how can you recreate that cozy vibe and amazing smell without possibly* breathing in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde, toluene and benzene, released from candles made from paraffin wax and synthetic…

Current trends I am crushing on
Kids interiors has evolved into more sophisticated spaces than just a few years ago. I get less requests for the old character type rooms and more for rooms that flows naturally in with the rest of the house. These rooms grow with the kids as they get older with minor changes to update it along the way. Here are some nursery and kids interior trends that I am currently crushing on. Abstract murals and decals: No need for boring walls, ever! Although wallpaper can be gorgeous it is not loved by all, and not an option if you are a tenant. Doing a mural or adding decals makes any wall…

Setup your home for homeschooling during covid-19
With Covid-19 uprooting the whole world and causing a dramatic change in how our kids will receive education for the coming months, possible years, we have to re-look at how our homes are setup to enable a productive learning environment for our kids. We started with homeschooling (or schooling our kids remotely) recently. This is uncharted territory for us and I never ever imagined that I will be forced to teach my kids (schoolwork), I am a lot of things but a teacher aint one of them. Most of our homes are not set up for an ideal homeschooling environment with homework stations normally on the dining room table or…

DIY Doll furniture makeover with Rust-Oleum
We were gifted an old, steel doll crib from a family friend years ago and recently I found the matching doll feeding chair in an antique shop close to our house a few months back and I wanted to spruce them up a bit and change to colour from the two mismatched pinks. Because Rust-Oleum works so well on difference surfaces, it is perfect for the steel doll furniture. I cleaned both units and made sure that there was not any loose paint or particles. I chose to go with the Satin silver lilac, I like the satin finish and the colour was a good combo of girly and modern look…

Kid friendly pyjama lounge room reveal
Most newly built houses come standard with a pyjama lounge and what a better way to create a space for kids especially if you do not have a designated play room. Blank canvas to create a space for tv time, crafts and lounging around. I added some storage space that doubles as seating with two oversized bean bags that can easily be moved around and can also comfortable seat adults. A table and chair set creates a space for crafting and tea parties and I added some sprinkle decals added some sparkle without overpowering the room. This kids pyjama lounge created a space that both kids and adults enjoy. Another…

Dreamy girl’s bedroom reveal
This bedroom makeover has been such a special project and a project I really enjoyed every second of. I was asked to create a space that my little client would love to spend time in and have sleep overs with her friends. Above is her bedroom before we started the transformation. We wanted to soften up the room without loosing the contemporary feel of the rest of the house’s decor by using soft colours, beautiful textures and functional furniture and storage solutions. The result was an inspiring space full of girly flair where she can retreat to and of course have loads of fun with her friends. Another happy Little…

DIY Table makeover with Rust-Oleum
I’m excited to share my first blog post on my recent Rust-Oleum DIY projects. I’m a huge fan of their products and have used it a lot over the years for DIY projects around the house. The fact that they have products that can be used on wood, steel and plastics (and more) are a huge advantage and I have been wanting to see what the wear is on plastic sprayed products, especially when used by kids. What better way to put it to the test than reviving an old kids plastic table. I have these cute kids chairs that does not match any of my tired old kiddies tables,…

Monochrome Nursery
A monochrome nursery is always a winner and currently one of the most popular schemes for nurseries and even toddler rooms. It has become the go to scheme for gender neutral nursery themes for parents, and it is a great way of incorporating high contrast stimulation for promoting that teeny baby’s visual development. LittleME dangles are perfect for this. How do you create a monochrome nursery or monochromatic room scheme? Firstly you need to understand what monochrome schemes are all about. Monochromatic colours are all the colours (tones, tints and shades ) of a single hue. Monochromatic color schemes are derived from a single base hue and extended using its…

Furniture sizes for kids
I’m currently busy doing a playroom that will need to accomodate a 4 year old, a 7 year old and occasionally older as well as younger kids. This huge age group has definite changes in furniture needs so I opted to look at bigger furniture than the average toddler furniture available as this sized furniture is not suitable for older kids. Here are some guidelines for choosing chair and table sizes for your kids: The easiest way to check if a chair is the correct hight for your child is for them to sit on it. Their feet should touch the floor with their knees bent at 90 degrees. A…

Neutral Nursery Love
A neutral nursery will always be in style due to its adaptability and this design fits right into our tribute to our beautiful South Africa for our latest style session. People have different reasons for creating gender neutral nurseries, some do not know the gender of the baby, some would like the nursery to last for more than one gender baby and some just prefer the sophisticated look of a neutral palette. What we do love about a gender neutral nursery is that you can easily add bold patterns or textures to your design. How can you use your high contrast dangles?
Our LittleME high contrast dangles are amazing when using them with our frames, but they bring out very creatives sides of moms when they are one the move or just do not have the tools necessary!! As a standard we recommend using the high contrast dangles on the steel frame that fits over the changing table as well as the wooden baby gyms. They also work great on the move when attached to the car seat handle or the headrest of the car. Chenel from Life with James & Jaxson shared how Jaxson rolls when they are out and about. Love More Movement
A few weeks ago I watched a series called 13 Reasons Why on Netflix and it was such a touching and sobering show about how 13 small acts can have such a huge impact, ending in death ,on one person.
