Office makeover with Prominent Paints

I have been dying to make some major changes in my office area. I was stuck looking at brown brick walls for 9 hours a day putting quit a damper on the creative juices at times, so an office makeover was desperately needed. I decided that painting the walls was going to be the easier option at this stage, I did not have a major budget for the office so I wanted a major impact with what I did.

Before

We decided to talk to our friendly advisers at Prominent Paints to give us some pointers on how to paint these walls correctly. The brick was sealed by the previous owners of the house so I needed to make sure that the paint does not just peel off within a short period of time.

We were advised to do the following:
– Clean the bricks with a cleaning agent and a brush
– Let it dry completely
– Use Dampcure as primer
– Paint the walls with the desired paint, we’ve used the sheen range from Prominent Paints throughout the house so I decided to use that in the office too.

I did a small area as a test patch and stuck some paint on it and peeled it off to test if the adhesion of the paint was correct. All test succeeded and we were ready to start painting.

During

My office area doubles as a workshop, studio, sewing room and office so it can get messy and cluttered at the best of times (seen in the before images). I took this opportunity to do some spring cleaning and de-cluttering. The only other major change that I made was to replace by work benches with narrower white tops, which I installed all by myself {que the pat on the back} and I used a sandblast spray on the windows to still allow the sunlight poring in, but to provide privacy from the outside. All and all this whole makeover cost around R3000.

After

I am so happy with the fresh new space that I get to work in, it truly made spring better for me.
