Setup your home for homeschooling during covid-19
With Covid-19 uprooting the whole world and causing a dramatic change in how our kids will receive education for the coming months, possible years, we have to re-look at how our homes are setup to enable a productive learning environment for our kids. We started with homeschooling (or schooling our kids remotely) recently. This is uncharted territory for us and I never ever imagined that I will be forced to teach my kids (schoolwork), I am a lot of things but a teacher aint one of them. Most of our homes are not set up for an ideal homeschooling environment with homework stations normally on the dining room table or…

Kid friendly pyjama lounge room reveal
Most newly built houses come standard with a pyjama lounge and what a better way to create a space for kids especially if you do not have a designated play room. Blank canvas to create a space for tv time, crafts and lounging around. I added some storage space that doubles as seating with two oversized bean bags that can easily be moved around and can also comfortable seat adults. A table and chair set creates a space for crafting and tea parties and I added some sprinkle decals added some sparkle without overpowering the room. This kids pyjama lounge created a space that both kids and adults enjoy. Another…

Dreamy girl’s bedroom reveal
This bedroom makeover has been such a special project and a project I really enjoyed every second of. I was asked to create a space that my little client would love to spend time in and have sleep overs with her friends. Above is her bedroom before we started the transformation. We wanted to soften up the room without loosing the contemporary feel of the rest of the house’s decor by using soft colours, beautiful textures and functional furniture and storage solutions. The result was an inspiring space full of girly flair where she can retreat to and of course have loads of fun with her friends. Another happy Little…

Decorex 2017
This year Decorex SA has introduced the Milk Jug cafe to the Decorex shows, an area specifically dedicated to kids, surrounded by kids decor and interior inspiration. Little Interiors was honoured to have teamed up with an amazing group of kids decor brands to design a drool-worthy nursery space. My aim was to create a nursery design that will catch the eye of not just the expecting parent, and for the design to be a talking point by stepping out of the normal box of what a nursery should look like. I wanted to create an industrial Scandinavian look with pops of steampunk and an adventure theme combined. Concrete, steel…

Alexia’s confetti room
I could not wait to share this confetti & pastels room designed for a very special girl. My brief from the very adamant 6 year old was that she wanted a room with pink, purple, gold and glitter with unicorns and confetti – a brief I’m sure that most 6 year-old girls would give and that most mothers dread, so I did an interpretation on this look in a bit more sophisticated yet age appropriate look. I started with a very neutral grey base and added in some pastels to the bedding and headboard and rugs. I designed a custom headboard inspired by the silhouettes of dutch houses. On the…

Demetri’s Toddler Room
This toddler room for Demetri encapsulates everything about being a boy. Little Demetri is almost 3 and loves trains, rockets, robots and planes. I did not want to bind the room with only one theme, I would like to have the option to tweak the room as he grows up, to match his personality and likes. I wanted a real boyish room since he was still in his nursery so I had a custom cross stitch piece made for him, inspired by the nursery rhyme “What are little boys made of?”. This became the inspiration behind this room. Demetri has taken over his big sisters room seen bellow in the…

Room Tour – Zach’s Room
Zach’s Room Tour Tanielle from @watchzachgrow allowed us a sneak peek into her newly done room for her little Zach. This gorgeous little boy has the most beautiful smile and the vibrant room really shows of his energy. Zach’s favourite colour is green so Tanielle decided on go with a soft mint colour to go with a black and white colour scheme. Mint is a colour that is unisex so by adding the super bunnies and thunder bolts the room is unmistakably turned into a boy’s room with the mint softening it just enough. I love all her DIY touches to the room especially the book trolley, it is so functional and an…

Room Tour – Peyton’s nursery
Peyton’s mom, Hesan, did a pretty awesome job with her nursery and I’m very excited to share her nursery reveal here. She had a very clear vision about the nursery design and with very little input from me, executed it very well. I must add that baby Peyton will be the first girl after 3 boys, so mom wanted something very special. Hesan’s not a big fan of pink so we decided that coral will work well with the grey, gold and rose gold that she already picked. It makes the room girly but not overly pink. She brought in a little mint with the…

The Collaborative – Vintage Floral Bedroom
Spring is in the air and the sweet smell of blossoms are teasing our senses. What a perfect way to kick of our The Collaborative 2 room reveal, a Vintage floral room! This room is a little girls dream, designed for her to get lost in their own perfect little whimsical world. Our colour scheme incorporated some pinks, greens and golds. We wanted to create a room that was current, but had vintage feel, so by combining some lovely modern designs with soft floral fabrics, vintage prints and some lace the space will have any little girl feeling like a fairy princess. My favourite…

Room Tour – Hudson’s room
This room tour of Hudson is by Chandre from Styled_by_mama. She is mom to Hudson and a brand representative to some local South African brands on Instagram. Hudson is almost two and it was now time to upgrade his room to a toddler room. She did not bind herself to just one theme, so the room and decor will have a long lifespan as Hudson gets older. The black and white colour scheme is still extremely popular in nurseries and children’s rooms. Having a room in a black and white colour scheme has a lot of advantages: A black and white room can help to calm the crazy of all the colourful toys that a…
