Decorex 2017
This year Decorex SA has introduced the Milk Jug cafe to the Decorex shows, an area specifically dedicated to kids, surrounded by kids decor and interior inspiration. Little Interiors was honoured to have teamed up with an amazing group of kids decor brands to design a drool-worthy nursery space. My aim was to create a nursery design that will catch the eye of not just the expecting parent, and for the design to be a talking point by stepping out of the normal box of what a nursery should look like.
I wanted to create an industrial Scandinavian look with pops of steampunk and an adventure theme combined. Concrete, steel and metallics set the tone for the colour scheme, and I lightened it up with the fresh clean look of the Scandinavian type furniture and rug. Every single accessory was added to the design to enhance the theme and purpose of the room. My personal favourite item in the room was the top hat pendant light, this was part of the inspiration behind the room. I have used some amazing planters to add green elements into the space as well as other pops of colour with plush toys and pillows.
We were totally in love with the wallpaper that we used; it had amazing texture and it became a complementing backdrop for whatever was placed in front of it.
As an interior designer specialising in not only nursery design but also kids interiors, i wanted the room design to be easily transformed into a toddler room, and with the amazing Spot cot and compactum it is possible. The cot transforms into a bed (that looks like a bed and not like a cot that has just been lowered) and the compactum becomes a desk. I’m a firm believer in extending the life of furniture and this is the perfect way to do it.
