Kid friendly pyjama lounge room reveal
Most newly built houses come standard with a pyjama lounge and what a better way to create a space for kids especially if you do not have a designated play room. Blank canvas to create a space for tv time, crafts and lounging around. I added some storage space that doubles as seating with two oversized bean bags that can easily be moved around and can also comfortable seat adults. A table and chair set creates a space for crafting and tea parties and I added some sprinkle decals added some sparkle without overpowering the room. This kids pyjama lounge created a space that both kids and adults enjoy. Another…

The biggest design dilemma we have when creating kids and even adult spaces is to add enough and stylish storage to a space. Good storage solutions can make or break a room design so I’m always on the hunt for fun and stylish ways to add storage to spaces. Today I’m sharing some of my go-to storage solutions that can be used in nurseries, kid rooms as well as the playroom. Win a personalized Medal Hanger!
Display all your medals with a personalized medal hanger! Earlier this year my brother turned 30, and I really was not sure what to get him that was meaningful and useful. He has always excelled in sports, especially gymnastics, karate and recently jujitsu. He has built up a good collection of medals that has just landed up in a box for nobody to see. Sa Medal Hangers had the perfect solution for me and it turned out to be his most cherished gift he got. After a recent swim gala at my daughet’s swimming school, I’m seeing a lot of potential in her. I realized that the perfect gift for her upcoming birthday would…

Hoppity poppity EB is coming to town
“EB”, as my daughter refers to the Easter bunny, is coming to town and I’m loving all the bunny decor around. I felt inspired by the glass bunny jar with pearlised hazelnuts that I bought from Woolworths a while back. I had one of those happy accidents with it when I tried to get the stickiness from the tape off with nail polish remover, and accidentally took of the gold, but decided to leave the bunny gold. I just love it more now. I love jar storage and I always suggest using it in a nursery to keep the cotton buds and other small necessities on hand. Why not…

Introducing LittleME!
I’m so exited to be launching the LittleME range of hangers and organizers. Our LittleME hand painted wooden hangers are the perfect addition to a children’s/baby room. The hangers are designed to display a special piece of clothing, accessories or just used as a decor item in a room. They are made from quality European birch plywood and hand painted to create a special feature in your child’s room. Spring Clean
Spring is in the air and this means spring cleaning time for most of us. I use this time to reflect on what I really need and what has gathered dust because it has not been used for a year. For the kids, because of the change of season I also need to check what clothing does not fit anymore etc. This I normally pass on to The Grace Factory, they do amazing work and I try to get the kids involved in letting them know where it goes. Spring time is a perfect time to get rid of the old, I’ve had a need in me to get rid of…

Baby to toddler room
Realizing that your baby is now a toddler is a shocking thing! It feels like you had a tiny helpless baby 5 minutes ago and now they are exploring and climbing on to things and all of a sudden their needs become a lot different to a baby’s need. It is now time to look at what you need to change to make the nursery more safe and suitable for their current needs. At this stage you can still keep your nursery theme the same. First look at what you can keep: 1. Can you use your cot as a toddler bed if they are ready for it? If not…

Children’s bathroom storage solutions
Organizing a kids bathroom is one of the most difficult tasks for me personally, and it is even worse when the said bathroom is shared with adults. Bath toys are the worst because they need to dry between play, to prevent all types of nasties growing in and on the toys. My bathroom tiles are not at all suction cup friendly so none of the suction cup bags worked well for me, and unfortunately neither does double-sided tape stick to these tiles so I had my hands in my hair. My husband mounted a bath toy scoop to the wall rather than having to use double-sided tape. This worked great…

DIY: Fabric toy bags
Want to make your own fabric toy bags? I made these fabric bags for the African Themed Nursery I shared recently. The smaller one is being used to store baby toys and teddies and the taller one as a laundry basket. I reinforced both the barrels with iron on batting but I had to use cardboard for the laundry basket between the layers, just to keep it from falling over. It still has the effect I wanted but it’s just a little bit more stable. I cut my own pattern for these two sizes and tweaked a little as I was sewing. Here is a very nice tutorial I found…

African inspired nursery
African Inspired Nursery Finally the nursery reveal that I’ve been dying to share. I had so much fun doing this nursery, it definitely came with its share of challenges for such a tiny room. I did not have a massive budget, so a lot of the items were DIY projects and it was a teeny-tiny space so I had to be very creative with the space layout. I will be sharing some of the DIY projects in the coming weeks. This was the initial moodboard I did for the room I made changes to the location of the crib and the type of changing station I was using. This was due to some…

My very own IKEA Hack!
When designing baby #2’s nursery we needed to reconfigure the storage in the very, very small room. I did get quotes on built-in cupboards, but I did not want to spend my whole budget on cupboards. I decided to do my own little IKEA hack. For those not familiar yet, Nevada Furniture is the local imported of IKEA products and the prices are really good, considering the weak Rand and importing costs. In the end, with all the changes made to two wardrobes, I spent about a third of what I would have with built-ins and I had exactly what I wanted. This is what the ANEBODA Wardrobe looks like…

You really do not need a massive space for a nursery, a baby’s spacial needs are pretty basic, but what you do need a lot of is STORAGE! Here are some tips on how to make a small space work well for a nursery: * PLANNING: This is probably the most crucial part of using a small space. Toy Storage
Your house used to be neat and tidy, AND then you had kids… without knowing it toys crept into every corner of your house. Some people find it easy to discard of toys easily, but when it is expensive toys that have not been damaged beyond repair I tend to keep them… and then there is another birthday and MORE toys come… Here are some options to make life a little less cluttered. Get the kids to help tidy up by playing a game or singing a tidy-up song. The odd threat to throw all the toys in the dustbin also works wonders sometimes.
